The Better Yes: Trusting God When You Can’t See the Whole Picture
When I look back on the day I left my teaching career in 2022, I can still remember the swirl of emotions—fear, excitement, uncertainty, and hope all tangled together. Walking away from a steady paycheck and a clearly defined schedule wasn’t an easy choice, but it was the right choice.
Why?
Because God had placed something on my heart that I couldn’t ignore. And even though I couldn’t see the whole picture, I knew I had to trust Him for the better yes.
What Is the “Better Yes”?
The better yes isn’t always the option that makes sense on paper. It’s not about the safest choice or the most comfortable next step. Instead, it’s about aligning your decisions with God’s calling—even if it means stepping out without all the answers.
For me, that meant building Crown of Glory Solutions from scratch and stepping into the role of a faith-driven virtual assistant—a role that would give me the freedom to be home with my two children, serve clients with excellence, and build a business that honors God in every detail.
Saying Yes Without the Full Roadmap
If we’re being honest, most of us want the full plan before we start. We want God to hand us the blueprint, the budget, and the exact date of completion. But faith doesn’t work that way.
When Abraham was called to leave his home in Genesis 12:1, God didn’t give him the full itinerary. He simply said, “Go… to the land I will show you.” Abraham’s obedience wasn’t based on knowing every detail—it was based on knowing the One who called him.
The Fear Factor
Fear is often the loudest voice when we’re standing at the edge of a big decision.
What if I fail?
What if I’m not ready?
What if this isn’t the right time?
But here’s the truth: fear will always try to keep you from your better yes. It will keep you comfortable when God is calling you to grow.
As a faith-driven virtual assistant, I’ve had to face those fears again and again. But every time I’ve chosen faith over fear, God has been faithful to provide.
God’s Provision in the Better Yes
I can now see how each client, each opportunity, and each lesson was part of His plan all along. Philippians 1:6 reminds us:
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
If He’s brought you this far, He’s not going to leave you halfway.
Encouragement for Your Journey
Maybe today you’re feeling that same nudge to make a shift—to start a business, write that book, launch a ministry, or step away from something that’s no longer serving you.
You don’t have to have the whole plan to say yes. You just need to trust the One who’s calling you.
