Waiting for Permission: Why You Don’t Need the World’s Approval to Say Yes to God
By Rachel Roach | Rooted and Ready
The Coffee & Cozy Blanket Conversation
Before we go any further, friend—grab your favorite coffee (or tea) and maybe a cozy blanket. I want you to feel like we’re sitting together at my kitchen table for this one, because this is a conversation that needs to happen heart-to-heart.
Here’s the question I want to ask you: Have you been waiting for someone to give you permission to say yes to the thing God has placed on your heart?
The Weight of People-Pleasing
When I made the leap from teaching to becoming a Christian virtual assistant and running Crown of Glory Solutions, not everyone understood. I heard:
“Are you sure that’s wise?”
“What about stability?”
“What if it doesn’t work out?”
If I had waited for every single person to nod in agreement, I’d still be sitting in that same chair, sipping my coffee, wishing I’d been brave enough to start.
But here’s the truth:
“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” — Galatians 1:10
God had already signed the permission slip. I just had to move.
Why We Wait
There are so many reasons we hesitate:
Fear of rejection.
Feeling unqualified.
Believing we need everyone else’s sign-off before making big moves.
But the longer we wait for the world to feel “ready” for us, the longer we put off stepping into the space God has already prepared.
The Only Permission You Need
If God has called you to start that business, launch that ministry, write that book, or change that career path—that’s enough.
Friend, the only permission you truly need is His.
And when you finally move forward, you’ll find that everything—yes, even the challenges—comes with an extra measure of grace.
A Word for My Fellow Faith-Driven Business Owners
Whether you’re a Christian virtual assistant, a mompreneur, a coach, a content creator, or someone simply chasing a God-sized dream, remember this:
God doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called.
You don’t have to wait until you feel “ready” or until others approve. The calling itself is your confirmation.
Your Next Step
So pour that coffee. Wrap yourself in that blanket. And take the next step. Write the email. Make the call. Create the plan.
Stop waiting for the world’s applause—because God’s already clapping for you.
