The Leap of Faith: How I Left My 9–5 to Build a Business with God

By Rachel Roach | Rooted and Ready

Have you ever felt God tugging on your heart to make a change that feels… impossible?

That was me in 2022.

At the time, I was still teaching—surrounded by music, laughter, and students I loved. On the outside, it looked like I had a dream career. On the inside, I was tired. Burnt out. Questioning whether this was the life God still wanted for me.

So I started praying.

Not a quick, “God, help me figure this out” kind of prayer. No—these were long, soul-searching conversations with the Lord. The answer didn’t come as a loud, booming voice. It was quiet. Gentle. Persistent.

God was calling me to more.

The problem? “More” didn’t come with a step-by-step plan or financial safety net. It came with a choice: stay in my comfort zone or step out in obedience.

The Decision That Changed Everything

I knew I had to choose faith over fear. In July 2022, I walked out of the classroom for the last time and stepped into the unknown.

I didn’t have everything figured out. I didn’t have all the money saved. I didn’t even know exactly how my new business—what would become Crown of Glory Solutions—would take shape.

But I had something better:

  • Trust that God’s plan was good.

  • Obedience to follow His lead.

  • Confidence in His promises.

Proverbs 3:5-6 became my anchor:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

The Blessings That Followed

Leaving my 9–5 wasn’t easy. There were moments of doubt and nights I wondered if I’d made a mistake. But then came the reminders:

  • Putting my daughter down for her nap without rushing out the door.

  • Hearing my son’s giggles while I worked from home.

  • Being fully present for my family.

God didn’t just provide—He multiplied. He opened doors, brought the right clients, and positioned me in spaces I never could’ve reached on my own.

Why This Matters for You

If you’re standing at the edge of change—whether that’s leaving a job, starting a business, or stepping into a completely new season—remember this:

You don’t have to have all the answers. You just have to say yes.

God’s plan may not come with a clear roadmap, but it always comes with His presence. And when He calls you to something, He will equip you for it.

Friend, it’s okay to leap.
It’s okay to walk away from the secure thing to follow the sacred thing.

I’m living proof that when you trust God with your next step, He will make sure it’s the best one you’ve ever taken.
