When Imposter Syndrome Creeps In: A Christian Virtual Assistant’s Battle and Breakthrough

By Rachel Roach | Rooted and Ready

Running a business from home while raising littles sounds dreamy—until it’s not.
Until the dishes pile up, the client inbox dings, and the enemy whispers, “Who do you think you are?”

In this post, I’m opening up about one of the most common battles I’ve faced as a mom, a business owner, and a Christian virtual assistant: imposter syndrome.

It’s real. It’s sneaky. And it’s not from God.

The Unexpected Places Imposter Syndrome Shows Up

You’d think imposter syndrome only shows up in big moments—like landing a new client or launching a new offer.

But for me?

It’s shown up when I’ve walked into church to lead worship, wondering if I’m spiritually strong enough to carry that weight.
It’s shown up when I’m loading the dishwasher at 10pm, feeling like I’ve missed the mark with my kids that day.
It’s shown up after sending an email sequence or managing a team project, wondering, “Am I even doing this right?”

The enemy loves to twist the truth and distract us with doubt. But we don’t have to stay stuck there.

This Isn’t Just Business—It’s a Spiritual Battle

John 10:10 tells us:

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

Friend, that voice in your head saying you’re not good enough?
That’s not the voice of your Savior.
That’s the voice of a thief.

The truth is this: if God has called you to motherhood, to business, to ministry—He’s already equipped you.

We have to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10–11) and remind ourselves daily: we’re not walking this road alone. The Lord goes before us and stands beside us.

You Are Not a Fraud. You’re a Warrior.

The world might tell you that success is earned by hustle.
But as a Christian virtual assistant and CEO of Crown of Glory Solutions, I know that favor flows from obedience.

This business wasn’t built overnight. And it definitely wasn’t built without tears, prayers, and more than a few moments of doubt.

But here’s what I know for sure:

  • God opened every door that led me here.

  • God placed every client and connection in my path.

  • God continues to shape me into the woman, wife, mom, and CEO He’s called me to be.

So if you’re feeling like an imposter right now?
You’re not alone. And you’re not failing. You’re growing.

Final Word: You’re More Equipped Than You Think

I want to encourage every mama out there trying to do business God’s way:

Don’t let imposter syndrome steal one more ounce of your peace.

Whether you’re still dreaming or already scaling, God sees you.
He’s with you in the early mornings and the late nights.
He’s blessing your obedience, not your perfection.

“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…” — Philippians 1:6
